A TEXAS death-row inmate was executed after a local court refused to stay open an extra 20 minutes to hear an appeal.

At 10am on September 25, the US Supreme Court announced it would review in early 2008 an appeal by two Kentucky death row inmates challenging the legality of the lethal injection.

The same day, Michael Richard, 48, was due to receive the deadly cocktail at 6pm in southern Texas for the rape and murder of a woman in 1986.

His attorneys said they rushed to draft an appeal to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the state's highest court for criminal cases.

At 4.50pm, the lawyers called the court to ask it to remain open 20 more minutes after they were stalled by a computer malfunction.

"We close at five,'' was the response from the court clerk, a quote widely reported by local media.

In a last-ditch effort, Richard's attorneys took their case to the Supreme Court, which remains open for executions.

The legal move delayed the execution by a few hours, but since the convict did not file his appeal with a local court first, his arguments were not accepted in Washington.

The execution went ahead that evening and Richard was declared dead at 8.23pm.

It's quite easy to see that the writer of this article is some anti-death penalty do-gooder. Obviously they've never known anyone close to them to be raped or murdered.

The court's behaviour angered a leading Texas daily newspaper, the Dallas Morning News, which expressed outrage in an editorial entitled "We Closed at 5".

"Hastening the death of a man, even a bad one, because office personnel couldn't be bothered to bend bureaucratic procedure was a breathtakingly petty act and evinced a relish for death that makes the blood of decent people run cold,'' the newspaper said.

This has to be one time when I say that I love bureaucracy. It's just a shame that the same bureaucracy is what was responsible for this person being allowed to remain alive for another 20 years while his victim could not.

Justice needs to be swift and sure and seen to be done. In this case it was seen to be sure - now all they need to do is work on the other 2 requirements and the crime rate might actually go down.

They would ask other cashiers to ring up such purchases, or sometimes customers would scan those items themselves, the newspaper reported.

THE Gold Coast is considering defying the the Queensland Government and going it alone on daylight saving.

Gold Coast Mayor Ron Clarke was seeking legal advice yesterday about whether the tourist strip could have its own time zone

after the Government controversially ruled out a daylight saving referendum, despite a majority of Queenslanders supporting it.

Coast business and tourism leaders joined Cr Clarke in condemning Premier Anna Bligh's decision to reject a referendum, daylight saving trial or southeast corner zonal system. Ms Bligh justified the decision on Government-commissioned research showing minority support for daylight saving outside the state's southeast.

A frustrated Cr Clarke said he had asked the city solicitor to investigate the legality of the Gold Coast going it alone on daylight saving.

He said ideally, southeast Queensland would introduce daylight saving under the banner of the Council of Mayors.

Cr Clark is frustrated? Maybe Cr Clark should think about where the boundaries of Queensland actually begin & end. Hint for this self-absorbed idiot: QUEENSLAND doesn't start at Tweed Heads & end at Labrador! There is more to this state than your shithole corner!

I actually support the dual time-zone for Queensland idea but object greatly when power-mad local councils start dictating what the time should and shouldn't be in their regions.

Let the Gold Coast have their daylight saving - it's not like anything of any consequence happens down there other than an increased crime-rate; drug-taking; drunkenness; and tolerance of debauchery.

Does Malaysia have Daylight Saving? What about Singapore? Bangkok? Has anyone worked out that the closer you get to the equator, the more STUPID an idea it is to have Daylight Saving? Evidently not.

Let the Gold Coast secede from the state. How about the Gold Coast also not stick its hand out to the State Government for monies (ie: taxes from ME and people from ALL over the state. If you cannot handle being in the spotlight and need drugs to cope: bite the bullet and get OUT of there and get a real job! Some people can handle being the centre of attention and some cannot. THE head of Amnesty International Australia's bid to save the Bali bombers has asked the families of victims to understand why he is fighting to spare the killers.

Amnesty International Australia anti-death penalty co-ordinator Tim Goodwin yesterday told the families of the dead the execution of Bali mastermind Amrozi and his two accomplices would not deliver justice or prevent future attacks.

Apologies to all who look back occasionally to this site to see what new crap I've written - life has just gotten VERY busy lately.

As is the way with how I view my life: if something is perceived to be difficult, different, or something I would not ordinarily be partial to doing - I would seriously consider giving it a go. Of course, this theory doesn't apply to perverse activities and things that are damaging to the body (I've only got this almost-complete one and I need it to last a few years yet without engaging in dickhead games like taking drugs or getting shot up the arse by some homosexual type).

I've still got plenty to say on lots of subjects - just no time to indulge in writing about them. I'm working on this though so please check back occasionally.

Of course, I will stick to my usual topics on:
- Cheering when a car thief crashes the car and dies (and, if we're lucky, takes a bunch of his stupid mates with him).
- Cheering even louder when some drunken fuckwit falls out of a high-rise building on the Gold Coast and turns himself into road-pizza (anyone remember that jerk's name?)
- Saying "Why didn't you take some more of your mates?" when yet another member of the Cult of the Paedophile (Peace be upon him) straps a bomb to his body and blows himself up, thinking that the next life is going to be better simply because some donkey-raper in a dress said so.
- Making references to the Paris Hilton's, Pamela Anderson's and assorted other slags'n'sluts of the world who somehow convince young women that they can act like drug-taking, sperm-collection points and pretend that they are 'ladies' as well.

TMI Files: "SLUT!!!!"

Well, it's clearly been a while between posts - and anyone thinking that I've mellowed or will have anything earth-shattering to say should probably just give up now. You just know that this is going to be the same old soap-box subject that I crap on about - namely: females (amongst other things).

I don't know if I've put this in another post as I only write this crap (I don't read it - that's your job :) but I'll point out again that I took myself off the market sometime about September or October last year. It was around the time when I became friends with a bird I had met but she'd developed a few mental issues over the years thanks to being perpetually flogged by yet another one of those gutless arsewipes that are allowed to exist in our society: the-bloke-who-hits-women. Nice bird with similar interests to myself but I wasn't going to string her along nor was I going to use her.

What a strange concept that is in society today....
Is it an idea that is SO alien today that people figure that since everyone is using someone in some way then it is OK to do it themselves? What happened to principles? What happened to integrity? Oh yeah - forgot... They don't rate in this world today.

So now it comes around to the propagation of double standards that is ever-present today - and particularly from the female of the species.

Once upon a time, a bloke could rely on a woman to be the objective one while she lovingly gazed upon her other half: the typical beer-swilling, bug-killing type that would act like a child in all the wrong situations. Mind you - this is the bloke of the 80's or whenever - not the kind of bloke that was around in the 40's and 50's when being a 'man' was a big thing and meant something. Now it's just a title that the adult-sized boys think they can bestow upon themselves when they turn 18.

Now there is an ever-increasing number of women (I think the percentage must be about 98% of the population) who are so full of their own bullshit that they think that the words they say are actually relevant and are as good as gospel. Excuse me, but imagine a bird who is 5'4" tall, weighs 60kg and her exercise regime consists of trotting to the kitchen cupboard to attack her stash of potato chips, and she stands in front of me telling me what a temper she has and that she's going to belt me one if I happen to disagree with her personal dogma.

WTF???

The only response I can offer is: "What are *you* going to do to me? Bleed on me?" (in reference to the most-likely outcome of her hitting me being that she will hurt herself in the process).

Which tends to lead me onto the topic of this post.... double standards aka: the believing-of-one's-own-bullshit aka: SLUT!

To the women reading this: how many are you going to say the usual crap: "Oh yes - if a bloke sleeps around, he's a stud but if a woman does it, she's a slut!" Well - yeah - but you're only half right. A bloke who sleeps around is ONLY a stud in YOUR eyes because that is the title YOU gave him - not me! I don't respect any bloke who hasn't the honour to commit to one woman nor possesses the principles to treat any of them like a lady - which, I guess, is contradictory in itself as there are very few young women in this world that are worthy of the treatment that goes with the title of 'lady' but I still treat them as such anyway. I have one mate who claims to have lost count after being with 100 women over the years. Another kept a diary because he wanted to bang one from every race and religion (and only missed that goal by about 3 or so - over 200 according to him).

Note: I do NOT respect them for this. I also do not take advice from them on how to treat a woman because that is NOT my goal in life. I do NOT believe that getting my end wet as many times as possible and spreading social diseases is going to enrich my life in any way, shape or form. So to the majority of women out there: this is called "Practicing what one preaches" - and I have no problem in suggesting that it is a concept that is alien to most of you.

I also believe that anyone (male or female) who sleeps around while single is not going to change their ways when they "commit" to someone if the opportunity presents itself where they think that they will not get caught. This way of thinking, to me, is a clear lack of self-respect as well as a lack of respect for anyone else. Of course, these same people also get all high and mighty when anyone questions their integrity. Can anyone see a point developing about double standards?

Has anyone worked out why my tirade is on this particular subject today? It shouldn't be hard to guess....

Yes - it happened to me *again* where I made a promise to myself that I am going to stay off the market and if the right one comes along then hopefully I will know it (because actually looking for a good woman clearly doesn't work!).

As many already realise, I go to dance classes a few times a week and I meet a lot of different women. Tall, short, fat, thin, smart, dumb, sweaty, overbite, underbite, buck-teeth, no teeth, honest, dishonest, broke, wealthy - all sorts. The point is that I go to class to learn a skill that I currently do not posses and not to pick up anything with a pulse.

Earlier this year, I meet a bird who is *not* Australian. This is a good omen for me because I am now firmly of the opinion that the women here work at being brainless skanks whose personal goal seems to be as much a drunken fuckwit as the average bloke. This essentially equates to a complete and utter void of class and the qualities that a bloke such as myself can admire in a woman, so I look elsewhere.

This bird is nice. She has looks and muscle-tone and a bit of class. She's also got one of the best qualities that I admire in a person: honesty - and she has it in spades (when it suits her).

So, me being me, after hanging around and going out with her for a while, I develop feelings for her. I also put my usual practice into play of NOT trying to get intimate for at least 2 months because I want to know what she's like as a person first. How many of us know people who've fucked on the first date - most likely while drunk - and become attached to someone for a few months before discovering that when the sex runs out, the person they're with is complete turd?

You may equate this to mean that I can't get laid - but I can. I can get it anytime I want if I wanted it because there are professionals out there who cater to people who want meaningless sex. There is no need to go out and give a girl drugs or get her drunk or pack-rape her with your football or muslim buddies when the services are there for someone who will, chances are, do a much better job on a bloke AND she won't want to move in with you or claim half your possessions.

Back to the girl-of-interest....

She's got manners and class and all the things I admire in a woman - and yet again I fall for the time-honoured lie that all women give when a bloke shows interest in her: "I'm not looking for a relationship right now." OK - fine. I always take this line and her at face value and back off even though I know for a fact that it really means: "I just don't want a relationship with YOU unless you have no job, no prospects, no education, huge debts, will treat me like shit, want to do a threesome with my sister / mother / best friend / brother, and make crude comments in public about wanting to fuck me up the arse!"

This one tells me that she doesn't want a relationship but has a couple of drinks one night and allows herself to be screwed by some bloke who has been whinging at her for months to come across even though she openly admits that she doesn't like him.

Has this moron never heard of batteries? Doesn't a dildo make a suitable non-diseased solution until a decent bloke comes along? Evidently not.

And there was the reasoning behind it.... "A girl has to have fun sometime."

Yeah... right... A bloke with a good job; good income; a career; his own home; lives clean; has a can-do attitude; treats the girl with respect and values her opinion is NOT wanted while some dickhead who never wants to aspire to do anything more in life than drink and fuck sluts gets rewarded for his behaviour.

Let me think about this a second... so - if your dog gets up on the bed and shits on your pillow - you're going to give him doggie treats and allow him to continue sleeping on the bed and you will leave the shit there on your pillow while you sleep. Is that not the same thing? Negative reinforcement? How about the child who screams loudly in the supermarket because they know that they will get lollies instead of a boot in the arse that they really deserve?

But I get over this. I put it down to me not having the right to decide how she should live her life and if she chooses to do that then that is her perogative and I decide that she's not for me.

A couple of months go by and she's calling me up most weeks to go out dancing somewhere and inviting me around to dinner and stuff and I'm starting to think that maybe she's thought that I'm a bit of a catch after all. How fucking stupid am I?

I mention again that we've been doing things together than that I would like to maybe start something with her because we get on so well and like a lot of common things and this time there is no utterance of what I call "the usual lie" (I take this to mean that there is hope for me....)

Then some "friend" from the distant past who doesn't keep contact all that often and could not be bothered to actually come to this country to see her pays for her ticket to a halfway destination whereupon I say "Yay! I've cut off all contact and deleted all ways of contacting her just in case my forgiving nature (and yes, I do have one!) gets the better of me again.

So now I am back to being OFF the market because I'm am again firmly of the opinion that there are NO decent women out there that are worth finding. I make a point of eating good food and looking after myself (personal grooming) and being the kind of bloke that a woman would want. Such a shame that it seems that they all seemingly want to be a proverbial "ho" until they decide they're getting old and want to marry a bloke - then it seems I'll be wanted - when they're all clapped out (emphasis on "CLAP") and proven to the entire football team that she really can suck-start a Harley Davidson!

Apologies to the 3 people who think I have crap worth reading but I've been busy the last couple of months. I started a new job in my chosen profession and this means my priorities have changed a wee bit.

It's funny though that I still get calls from various recruiters around the place asking me if I'm working yet. The funny bit is that when I found the job, I made sure to practice what I preached and contacted all of the recruiters that knew how to practice GOOD BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS and bothered to stay in touch with me when I contacted their firm with regards a position. Every single one I contacted were grateful that I let them know that I was working again and wished me well. Those that weren't bothered to contact me with any form of update got the same back - and it's these businesses that are contacting me now.

I received a notification from one firm the other day about how I had missed out on a position that I had applied for in excess of 2 months prior to the date of the email. It had taken the employer and the agency OVER 2 months to get back to me.

HOW SLACK IS THAT???

Needless to say, I contacted the agency and informed them that they need to coach their client that if they want talented, driven, dedicated and professional staff: this kind of person is not going to wait around for 2 months or more while they think about getting their thumbs out of their collective backsides. They cannot see the contradiction here - they WANT professional and driven people to join their lacklustre collective. Oil & water?
I was being semi-polite about it when I contacted them as I have my list of agencies that I will deal with in future [hint: these are the ones who know business etiquette and what communication in business actually means].

In the end, the firm that employed me seem to be very happy. The offered me a position and said I could think about the pay and the offer for a few days. Not being someone who'll sit around and wait, I wanted it settled on the day. Papers were then to be sent out and a chain of mail would go back and forth and then a start date decided. After showing my enthusiasm for getting the job done, the offer was made on a Friday and it was agreed that I would start on the following Monday. Government departments: are you reading this? This is a professional position and I don't have time to waste waiting for your paper trail. This organisation knew it and I was in there solving problems 72 hours after the initial offer of employment!
Well... this is the benefit of dealing with private enterprise... less bludgers - less politics - more interested in getting the job done with less mindless, half-witted bureaucracy!

Other news:
Well... after X number of years of training in one of the martial arts, 2 spine operations, 1 knee operation and another knee ripped out of it's socket (none of these caused by the training!), I finally got my black belt. In martial arts' terms: I have just learned to crawl. This is now where the *real* learning begins. It's true too as I have learned more in the last 3 months than in the last 2 years!

One thing about martial arts training is that you know where your body parts are just about all the time and you are aware of where people and objects are. Do you know where this really helps? Dancing! After doing latin dancing for 3 months back in 2004 (before knee surgery), I finally decided to go back about 6 months ago and it is GREAT! Lots of fantastic-looking women and, thanks to past training and an ability to work *with* "training partners", I get to achieve the ultimate compliment a bloke can get from a woman - that I've made her happy. I then go home alone and I am happy too! :)
[OK - so that last bit isn't entirely true... I have been thinking more about the female of the species lately but it is like trying to jam that camel through the eye of a needle in trying to find one worth finding... Oh, forgot the usual caveat - the trick is to find one that is worth finding that thinks that *I* am worth finding as well... I guess most prefer the bludgers and lazy pricks who want to dominate them and treat them like sluts.... Oh well...]

My thoughts are now that while people think that dancers are gay and football players are real men, it is actually the other way around. Tell me: who is the homo? A bloke who would prefer to run around an oval grabbing other blokes around the hips and backside with their face at arse or crotch height - and then want to have a shower with them afterwards -- or, the bloke who gets to hold a girl with very sexy hip movements so close that you can feel her heartbeat (and she does this willingly without any money changing hands).
Give me the dancing any day! :)
