Good news!
It seems that NOT being abusive or snakey at people who are just trying to do a job has once again proven to me to be the way to approach issues.
I have a mate who works on intimidation and abuse (well, he used to) to get his way and would then progressively abuse more and more people up the management tree until he got the result he wanted.
I received a phone call a couple of hours ago and was informed that I will be reissued with new passes in order to use the points I earned from using my Visa card with Heritage Building Society.
Not only did they give me the 1 month I enquired about, they were also kind enough to reissue them for a further 6 months.
Thank you, Heritage!
Since there are no sick family members to deal with or other major issues, I just need to find someone who is willing to go with me.... :) I've got no excuse if the passes run out this time.
Hey Nilknarf *.... (just kidding... coming up from Victoria just to go on rides is silly - like something I would do.... :) Did I mention that I once drove 2 days each way just to spend a weekend in Adelaide? Never been there before so it seemed like a good idea at the time. It certainly blew some cobwebs out of the Mustang too! :)

Well done, Jai!
Regarding Dreamworld, I've never been. :) I've only been to Movieworld once, and that was to the studio, not the theme park.
Heh. All the times I've been to Queensland, I've never done: Jupiters, Sea World, Wet'n'Wild. I have, however, been to the big pineapple and upmteen times to Montville.
And I saw Hunters and Collectors at the Morayfield pub on their farewell tour back in 98. I still miss them.
Thanks for thinking of me, even though it is a bit far, as you say. Expecially with the rugrat. I'd need to find a sitter and an airfare as I couldn't afford to drive 2 days there. If I was footloose and fancy free, it wouldn't be a problem. I used to drive to Mildura (5 hours each way) because I liked the drive! Sad, innit?
I'll raise a glass to your success tomorrow when I'm having a couple with a friend. (Thurs is my night off)
ps. Gawd I can rabbit on. Somebody shoot me, please! :)
Nilknarf,
Don't panic (think of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy :) - it wasn't a serious offer. If it was, it would have be accompanied by some airline tickets as it would be cheap and lazy of me to ask someone to travel from Melbourne to go somewhere with me and expect them to foot the bill! :)
Shoot you? I can't... I'm all out of rubber bands! (maybe if I string together a heap of those little gum ones.... :)
No problemo, jai. Still, it's a better offer than I got at the weekend LOl1
Jeez... it would have had to have been a pretty cruddy offer for mine to have been better! :)
It must have ranked up there with:
"Hey! We think you're a great person and want you to come out drinking with us as part of the gang. Oh, bring your car so that you can drive around to everyones place to pick them up. You can also drive us around to all the pubs, so you can't drink, of course. Did I mention that you will still be participating in all the rounds even though your drink will be about 1/3 the cost of everyone else? (except for Brian (who now likes to be called 'Emma') who will be drinking cocktails that cost 10 times the cost of your drink. Don't drink too much though - we don't want you disappearing to the toilet when we happen to want to go to the next pub!"
Montville, eh?
I will be definitely driving up there again (I'm about 100km south of there) if and when I ever get around to putting the motor back into the Mustang.
Stop laughing, Nick & Nora! "Et won't heppen timorrow bet et well heppen!"
:)
Jai, it would have been offensive coming from a young stud, but a 70 year old great grandfather is even moreso.
LOL talk about paranoia-inducing!
Even better (?) is that said old perve apparently used to be a bit of a charmer with the ladies.
Excuse me while I hurl.
Well, never let it be said that I'm quick on the uptake :) It took me about 3 goes at reading your message to understand what you meant.
Don't worry - not picking on you - I'm just tired after messing about the house all day. Finishing the 2nd half of my leave from work (next 10 days) and are working around the house to do what I can while I can before this stinking hot summer hits us. It's going to be NASTY this year.... :(
You got hit on by a 70yo Gr-Granddad?? Uh... I hope it wasn't yours... :)
You can look at it from many angles - you can be repulsed or willing to hurl from it; or, you could think that he saw a good thing and, being 70 and with not an over-abundance of years left, did what us younger time-wasters SHOULD do when in the same situation :)
I hope, for your sake, that his mind is as sharp as a tack and that his eyesight is perfect! :)
Thanks, jai. I blogged about the old boy the other day.
As for his eyesight, well, I'm not a complete dog lol. Hell, I'm not even a partial dog! I like to tell people I look great for 45. Gets them every time as I don't look my age anyway.
I know what you mean about summer. We can feel it down here at times. The rugrat and I got out into the backyard with the shovel this arvo. I'm going to dig it all up and redo it.
Not having done any gardening for about 20 years means it's going to be a challenge. And fun. :)
Hope you get all your stuff done before you have to go back to work.
I've been pretty slack lately at checking out the blogs around the place. Been madly cleaning and tidying the house because I just got sick of things not being in their proper place. I'm using the time off the best way I can :)
Ugh... shovelling.... :P I *used* to be able to work all day and no problems. Since getting the office job, I get a blister in half an hour now :(
I was going to say that you don't look your age and I don't act my age, but then, that's not for me to decide.... :)
Ah now... no negative comments about looks - I'm the only one around here allowed to pick on themselves about looks! :)
Jai, who does act their age? Hell, I have bitchfights with the rugrat over what to eat and which way to drive to the supermarket lol.
The only reason that i act responsibly these days is because I'm now responsible for someone else. The minute she hits 18 I'll revert back to my preferred maturity level of about.... 12 :)
I really, really, miss getting trashed. I've not done it for 4 years, now. 2 drinks gets me sloshed. It used to take more than that. A lot more.
Well... at least you'll be save heaps of money when you get to do it again.... :)
